Reviews ...  The best haunted house on Long Island: Gateway's Haunted Playhouse of Horrors October 14th, 2010 1:53 pm ET OMG! If you like being scared out of your wits this is the haunted house for you! This is NOT your run of the mill haunted house or trail thrown together to "just make money" during the Halloween season. This is a production and the cast members are 5 star excellent! The amount of work that goes into creating this horror show is quite evident throughout. So do you take your 6 year old to this? NO! Not unless you want him/her to wet the bed that night and possibly need therapy sessions in the future. Can your 10 year old handle it? That depends on your 10 year old. Some adults can't handle it! The website cautions the venue is not for children under 13, but when we were there with our kids they didn't turn us away. So it's up to the parents obviously. Now the details...when you enter there are rules you must listen to like, you can't touch anything and you cannot take pictures. Turn your cell phone off. No cast member can touch you when you are walking through the haunted house- that's good because if they touched you, you might have a heart attack. They also warn you about strobe lights. If you have health issues like claustrophobia or panic attacks, etc. you can turn around and go home, this is not a venue for you Be prepared, the line will be long because this is the best haunted house on Long Island. You can purchase fastpass tickets and come back at your designated time if you don't want to wait. It is WORTH the wait!!!! As you are waiting in line there is a story board with all the creepy details about the background of the characters inside the house. There is also a concession stand available. So what is inside? You my friend will have to find out for yourself if you're not too afraid. I will say this: A few teenage girls came out crying when we were there waiting in line. Yes, it is that scary. And the ghouls aren't even allowed to touch you!!!! (There should be awards given to the players) It is worth every penny. In fact, I would have paid more for such excellence. Bravo!!! Customer Reviews... 10/7/2010 Holy &$#%! I went to the $10.00 preview they had for oct 1st and 2nd (I went on the 2nd) and was blown away. This place "buries" the other long island haunts. I'm definitely going back for their full opening, I cant wait to see what new things they have, although I don't know how it can get much better. No joke several people in my group were crying during, and well after the haunted house walk which took us close to 35-40 minutes (FOR 10 BUCKS!), and one woman who walked with us literally couldn't stand by the end. We were all laughing at each other by the time we got out. So many good scares. so much misdirection, and so many unique things that I've never seen at any haunted houses (and I go to all of them all over the country) this is my new favorite local haunted house! I recommend to all, you wont be sorry!! I hope the other places have raised the bar as well, if they did this is going to be a phenomenal halloween season!
